THE
DEPARTMENT OF CHICANO and LATINO STUDIES is pleased to present the first event
of their Spring 2017 Critical Conversations Speaker Series entitled “"Beyond
the Wall: Border Disruptions and Creative Resistance" by Professor Michelle Téllez. This talk looks at the physical
U.S./Mexico border not just as a site of passage, a crossing line of
militarized surveillance and policing, or political boundary; rather, it
uncovers the borderlands as a space of resistance, conviviality, agency,
creative community building, and a space where transformative politics can take
place. This event will talk place on February 2, 2017 from 4:15- 6:00PM in
The Nolte Center.
