Summary:
Area and Global Studies Department at Grand Valley State University invites applications for assistant professor with research specialization in global studies, including areas such as global inequality, migration, transnationalism, global health, global communication, environment/sustainability, human rights and global perspectives on issues of identity, gender, race and ethnicity. Candidates must demonstrate teaching experience at undergraduate level, a commitment to serving diverse communities of learners and collaborating with diverse colleagues whose expertise spans disciplinary boundaries.

Required Qualifications:
·         Ph.D. in relevant field by August 6, 2019.
·         Demonstrated interdisciplinary scholarship in global studies that connects to disciplines such as African/African American Studies, Middle East Studies, East Asian Studies, Latin American Studies.
·         Demonstrated scholarly activity and research agenda in global issues and social impact.
·         Demonstrated experience in teaching about global issues at undergraduate level.
·         Commitment to serving diverse communities of learners, collaborating with colleagues whose expertise spans disciplinary boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications:
·         Ph.D. in Global Studies.
·         Demonstrated local or global community engagement with global issues.
·         Ability to teach both in classroom and online environment.
·         Demonstrated experience in teaching a broad range of courses in the existing interdisciplinary programs in the college, including Environmental Studies, and Human Rights.
Position Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced level courses in Global Studies and Social Impact and contribute to other programs in the college. Faculty members are required to demonstrate excellence in teaching, maintain an active research agenda and contribute service to the department, college, university and community. Ordinarily, tenure-track faculty members teach three courses per semester.

University of Colorado Denver Visiting Assistant Professor

Massachusetts Historical Society Fellowship Opportunities

THE MASSACHUSETTS HISTORICAL SOCIETY is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for their 2019-2020 fellowships. The Society will offer at least two MHS-NEH Long-Term Fellowships with a stipend of $4,200 per month with an additional stipend of over five hundred dollars a month for housing and professional expenses. These fellowships will be from four to twelve months and are available to applicants who have completed a terminal degree in their field by the application deadline of Tuesday, January 15, 2019. The Society also offers MHS Short-Term Fellowships (due Friday, March 1, 2019), Suzanne and Caleb Loring Fellowship on the Civil War, its Origins, and Consequences (due Friday, February 15, 2019), and New England Regional Fellowship Consortium (due Friday, February 1, 2019). Center for Early Modern History and Center for Medieval Studies IDF Endorsement

THE CENTER FOR EARLY MODERN HISTORY AND THE CENTER FOR MEDIEVAL STUDIES are pleased to serve as one of the sites for the Graduate School’s Interdisciplinary Doctoral Fellowships. The IDF provides support for outstanding doctoral students doing interdisciplinary research in connection with the University’s interdisciplinary research centers and institutes. To be considered for a letter of endorsement from CEMH/CMS, applications must submit their nominee application, a curriculum vitae, and their research proposal directly to the Centers by Monday, October 22. Interdisciplinary Doctoral Fellows at CEMH/CMS will be awarded an additional $1,000 in research funds in support of their work. Saint Mary's College Visiting Assistant Professor

SAINT MARY’S COLLEGE Department of Gender & Women’s Studies invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin August 2019. This position would teach three courses per semester based on the needs of the department and the teaching interests of the candidate from: Introduction to Gender & Women’s Studies, Transnational Feminism, and Feminist Methods. The Saint Mary’s College Department of Gender & Women’s Studies invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin August, 2019 with the ability to teach some combination of the following:  Introduction to Gender & Women’s Studies, Transnational Feminisms, andFeminist Methods.  The individual in this position will teach three courses per semester based on the needs of the department and the teaching interests of the successful candidate.  Candidates who teach and conduct research from a transnational or global perspective are preferred, as are candidates with a background in the social sciences. 

A Ph.D. either in Gender and Women’s Studies, or an interdisciplinary or related-field with graduate-level certification or experience in Gender and Women’s Studies will be preferred. Candidates who are A.B.D. will be considered.  The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of the college which promotes a life of intellectual vigor, aesthetic appreciation, religious sensibility, and social responsibility.  Saint Mary’s College has a mission-driven responsibility to be diverse, inclusive, and equitable.  The Department of Gender & Women’s Studies emphasizes excellence in writing and student engagement in research, advocacy, and internships and strong candidates will have an interest in inclusive pedagogy.  This position has the possibility of becoming tenure-track.

Princeton University Anschutz Distinguished Fellowship in American Studies


THE PRINCETON UNIVERSITY ANSCHUTZ DISTINGUISHED FELLOWSHIP IN AMERICAN STUDIES will be awarded in the 2019-2020 academic year to a distinguished writer, critic, journalist, musician, artist, or other contributor to the arts letters, public service, or commerce. The selection committee will place great weight on the candidate’s teaching ability as well as the rigor, innovation, and interdisciplinary emphasis of the proposed semester course. A fellow who must relocate to Princeton will receive a five-month salary of $90,000, plus benefits, and a fellowship who commutes to campus will receive a five-month salary of $60,000, plus benefits.
