GRADUATE COMMITTEE for VISITING SCHOLARS presents this year’s Donald R. Torbert
Lecture in Architectural History, DR. LOUIS P. NELSON. Dr. Nelson will present
his lecture, “Architectures of West African Enslavement,” on Tuesday, October 4th,
2016 at 5:00PM in 1210 Heller Hall.
Dr. Nelson
is a Professor of Architectural History and Associate Dean in the University of
Virginia's School of Architecture, where specializes in the built environments of the early modern Atlantic world. His current research engages in areas of enslavement
in West Africa and in the Americas and works to document and interpret
buildings and landscapes that shaped the trans- Atlantic slave trade.
