Summer Seminars and Institutes

Seminars and Institutes are designed either for K-12 educators or for college and university faculty.
Seminars: a Seminar provides an intimate and focused environment in which sixteen participants study a specific humanities topic under the guidance of one or two established scholars.
Institutes: an Institute allows twenty-five to thirty-six participants to pursue an intensive program of study under a team of scholarly experts.
We're ready to help: new Seminars and Institutes guidelines will be posted on December 22, 2017. We are ready to discuss your project and offer suggestions and advice.

Landmarks of American History and Culture: Workshops for School Teachers

The Landmarks of American History and Culture program supports one- week workshops for K-12 educators. The focus is on historic sites to address central themes and issues in American history, government, literature, art, music, and related subjects in the humanities.
We’re ready to help: new Landmarks of American History and Culture guidelines will be posted on December 22, 2017. We are ready to discuss your project and offer suggestions and advice.

NEH’s 2018 Summer Programs will support 52 Seminars and Institutes across the United States on a wide range of subjects including: Cold War era art, music, and film; the impact of the 1918 Spanish Flu on U.S. and world history; Alabama’s civil rights legacy; and Roman daily life.
